Guingand Race: The first race of the 2010 season and the first race with bowsprit and new A-sails. Although it´s mid May it was fu***** cold - but the 130 nm race turned out to be good for the faster boats with fair tides pushing us most of the time. The early morning start was a easy 4 hour downwind flow in upto 12 tws & sunny skies. We chased the 2 TP´s Apollo and John Merricks and only lost on them 10 minutes on the long downwind. The next 60 or so miles we sailed upind in 20 knots TW to Portland Bill and from there to the finish west of the Hurst which is inbedded by super shallow water we had to pass at 1.40 am. Sjambok finished 2nd in class and 5th overall.

We made some good experience with the sprit which makes the boat really easy to race and a bit faster off the wind as well.
